Top 5’s

I love lists. Even though I know what I need, I always write a shopping list. Even if I have my mind made up, a pros and cons list gets written. I hand-write to-do lists at work. It’s all very High Fidelity.

Anyway, indulge me. I often forget where the best food is, best drinks, quirkiest activities… so now I’m going to (slowly) populate this page with endless lists. Hopefully they will help you out as well as satisfy my craving to order the world and my experiences.

TOP 5: Burgers joints in London

1. Patty & Bun
2: Street Kitchen
3: Honest Burger
4: Meatliquor
5: Loaded Burger

TOP 6: Burger joints in the world

1. Halifax Burger, Copenhagen
2: Patty and Bun, London
3: Pim Pam Burger, Barcelona
4: Burgermeister, Berlin
5: Good Stuff Eatery, Washington D.C
6: Cambridge Bar, Edinburgh

Top 5: Places I’ve visited

1: Okavango Delta, Botswana
2: Barcelona, Spain
3: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
4: New Orleans, USA
5: Luang Prabang, Laos

Top 5: Date venues in London (Food)

1: Boqueria, Battersea
True, I love burgers. But I also love tapas and this is the best tapas EVER. It’s a nice setting but not TOO awkwardly romantic.
2: Margherita Loca, Battersea
Mexican food in a themed restaurant. Cheap, tasty food in a setting which offers lots to talk about!
3: Meatliquor, Marylebone
Men love the portions, it’s dark, it’s sexy and the music is great. If you both smell of meat and grease, no problem!
4: Bills, various (Soho, Covent Garden, Hammersmith, Highbury etc)
Moderately priced, the atmosphere is always nice, lots of choice and it’s a good ‘classy’ place to take a date.
5: Big Easy, Chelsea
New Orleans style food, great music, buzzing atmosphere, flattering lighting and off the beaten track.

Top 5: Date venues in London (Drinks)

1: A dive bar. Of any kind.
I love dive bars. The American kind (not ‘shitholes’ you can find in London). Relaxed, good bar and usually interesting.
2: The Print Room, Covent Garden
Upstairs bar, not too swanky but still very nice. Balcony overlooking Covent Garden, great pizza + prosecco on tap!
3: Ain’t Nothin’ But Blues Bar, Soho
Just off Carnaby Street this place always had great music, lively atmosphere BUT limited seating.
4: Doodle Bar, Battersea
Why speak the language of love when you can grab some chalk and draw it on chalkboard walls?
5: Tamesis Dock, Vauxhall
It’s a bar on a boat with reasonably priced drinks and a view of Westminster. That + waves = date heaven.

Top 5: Songs
(Technically my Top 5 songs are all Radiohead, so I limited myself to only putting two on the list).
1. Radiohead – Let Down
2. Radiohead – There There
3. Keaton Henson – The Best Today OR Broken Social Scene – Anthems of a 17 year old Girl
4. Yeasayer – Red Cave
5. The Smiths – There is a Light and it Never Goes Out

Top 5: Celeb Crushes
1. Idris Elba
2. John Hamm
3. Romain Duris
4. Chris Pratt
5. Milo Ventimiglia (kinda)
